The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is an international organization that promotes education, science, culture, and dialogue within the Islamic world and beyond. With 54 member states, ICESCO was established in 1982 and headquartered in Rabat, Morocco, it focuses on cooperation among member states and supporting sustainable development while advancing science and technology, promoting cultural diversity and heritage, and encouraging dialogue among different cultures.

Legacy of Engagement and collaboration
The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has a proven track record of advancing space science initiatives across the Islamic world and beyond. A notable example is the Global Space Science Forum (GSSF) that was launched in partnership with the Space Foundation, held in 2021 at ICESCO headquarters in Rabat, Morocco. This event marked a milestone as it brought together officials, astronauts, experts, and researchers from specialized international organizations and institutions, underscoring ICESCO’s commitment to space science development in the region.
