Legacy of Engagement and collaboration

The Moroccan Initiative for Space Industry(MISI) has a proven track record of actively participating in and co-organizing significant space-related events. A notable example is the 6th African Space Generation Workshop that was co-organized by Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and MISI, held from November 25 to 26, 2022, in Rabat, Morocco. This event marked a milestone as it was the first time the workshop took place in North Africa, underscoring Morocco’s emerging role in the regional space industry.

The 6th African Space Generation Workshop convened over 120 participants, including students, young professionals, and leading space experts from 23 countries, creating a dynamic forum for discussion, networking, and cooperative exploration in the realm of space. The workshop addressed a wide array of critical topics under its overarching theme, “Space4Africa for a more prosperous continent,” delving into essential areas such as Space Education & Outreach, Space Law & Policy, Space Business, and Space Systems & Technology.

The event played a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of African space professionals, facilitating meaningful connections and laying the groundwork for future research and business collaborations. Participants delved into a broad spectrum of space-related topics, ranging from space education and policy to technology and entrepreneurship. The discussions and recommendations from the two days at AF-SGW will be presented at the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) sub-committee meeting.

This event received support from prestigious entities, including the U.S. Embassy in Morocco. The U.S. Ambassador to Morocco honored the workshop with his presence, affirming the international community’s support and belief in the potential of regional space initiatives. This endorsement from global space leaders and diplomatic figures underscores the workshop’s global relevance and impact, highlighting its role in shaping the future of space exploration and development in Africa.

The success of our initiatives is amplified by the invaluable contributions of esteemed professionals and the support of prominent organizations in the space sector.
